      WELFARE MEASURES FOR BSF PERSONNEL

 

PM's Scholarship Scheme

 

(A)  EX- GRATIA PACKAGES  

The following benefits are given to the next of kin of deceased BSF personnel out of BSF Private Funds:-  

a)

FINANCIAL BENEFITS OUT OF CONTRIBUTORY BENEVOLENT FUND (CBF)

 

 

i) Normal death                                                      Rs.20,500/-  

 

 

ii) Accidental Death Rs.26,500/-  

 

 

iii) Killed in action Rs.27,500/-  

b)

Financial benefits out of Special Relief Fund Rs.2,500/-  

c)

Monthly financial assistance for 10 years out of CBF Rs.200/- p.m.

d)

Financial Assistance out of SRF for education of two children from Class I onwards up-to the age of 24 years        

Rs.600/-to 3000/-  (Yearly)

e)

One sewing machine out of SRF or Rs.1,500/- in cash in lieu of Sewing  Machine.  

 

f)

Rs.30,000/- on the occasion of marriage of one daughter for death in militant action Rs. 40,000/- (normal death)  

 

g)

Insurance cover out of Seema Prahari Beema Yojna (SPBY) Rs.10 lakhs in case Officers  

 

 

Rs.6 lakhs in case of            SOs’s and Rs. 4 Lakhs for ORs.  

(B)     Six Senior Secondary Schools, 61 Primary Schools and 3 Polytechnics are being run by the BSF out of Central Education Fund.

 

(C)  

i) An Institute of Rehabilitation and Re-settlement has been established at BSF Academy Tekanpur to impart vocational training to BSF widows on the following for re-settlement:-  

a)     Garment making course.

b)    Home products making course

c)     Multi-purpose Ayas/Nursing Staff Nurse

d)    Computer application/office Management Course.

However, at present 11 wards of BSF personnel have done vocational training from Institute of fire service and Industrial Management, Nangal Raya, Delhi.

 

ii) Rehabilitation training for disabled BSF Jawans  

We had approached Queen Mary’s Technical Institute, Pune to organize rehabilitation training for disabled BSF Jawans.  This institute which is a Private trust imparts vocational training to disabled personnel with a view to rehabilitate them.  The facility being offered by QMTI cater to post medical rehabilitation vocational training i.e after the disabled are adequately medically treated (acquired prosthesis were necessary) and are capable of undergoing one to two years of training in various skills.  Hostel facilities are also offered.  Personnel with more than 40% disability are only accepted by QMTI.  At present 20 disabled personnel have completed their training and 4 candidates are undergoing training  at QMTI, Pune.  

 

iii) Remarriages of 38 widows of deceased BSF personnel have been arranged till date.  

 

iv) 50 Plots have allotted to widows/disabled personnel at BSF Academy Tekanpur.  

 

v) 547 widows/dependents of deceased personnel have been given Govt. employment in BSF as Peons, follower, Clerk, Daftry, etc and 284 widows have been given employment in the various projects run out of BSF Welfare Fund.  

 

vi) BSF has constructed 111 quarters at different location for allotment to the widows.

 

(D) Rustamji Institute of Technology (RJIT):-The Rustamji Institute of Technology (RJIT), the first Engineering College in India established by Para Military Force. Due to deployment of the bulk of the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in militancy affected areas, the majorities of the force personnel stay separated from their families and are unable to look after the education of their children. A number of personnel are laying down their lives in the fight against anti national elements every day.

       The Rustamji Institute of Technology (RJIT) has been set up with the objective of giving an opportunity to the children of serving BSF personnel as well as for those who have laid down their lives in service to the nation, for acquiring higher technical qualification. The Border Security Force education fund sponsored the development of the institute.
